Bethany Simpson

As a child, being home schooled from preschool to twelfth grade, art was a part of my daily life. Being raised on the Eastern Shore of Virginia I saw many things that inspired me to create. Making doll clothes, molding clay, playing drums, and of course painting was how I spent most of my time. However my style of painting has not always come naturally. As a young child and teen, I tried to paint realistically, but it did not come easily, nor did it feel natural. But I still until wanted to paint. It wasn’t until 2010 at the age of twenty that my personality began to emerge, and I began to teach myself to paint in way that is natural and unique to me. My inspiration comes from all around me. I paint the way I see things. In particular, the Eastern Shore inspires my work with happiness, vibrancy, life, and movement, much like the changing tides. I feel truly blessed to be part of such an amazing family of artists at such a young age, and I cannot wait to see what the rest of my story has to tell.
